    New guy from North Carolina

    Hi all,

I got pulled this way thanks to BushcraftUSA forums where over time I started getting interested in hammocks.

Well I got interested and started reading, watched videos (Especially Shug's) and doing my due diligence and research.

I read a thread about the $25 hammocks at Walmart, blue things but seemed cheap enough to give it a shot. Worst case I could use it to hold gear or something.

After watching Shug's videos I wanted to try whoopie slings since the suspension that came on it was awful in my eyes so at Thanksgiving when Redden offered free shipping I ordered 50ft of amsteel and made myself a set of whoopies.

About an hour of work got me a set of ~6ft whoopies, had them installed on the hammock and the next day I grabbed a set of tie straps to use as makeshift tree straps and a few long smooth bolts and up she went.

Not bad for my first hang:

Got the wife to try it out a little later and she didn't want to get out.

Haven't laid in it for long or in trees far enough apart but that will come.

I now need to find some tree straps and either use a blue tarp I have or get a better one to try this out in the woods for real.

I would like to thank you all for enabling me with a new hobby.

Welcome from Georgia, and if you think that one is comfortable, there are many that are more so. I have one like yours and have enjoyed many hours in it in the yard. Hope you really get into this stuff, it is so much fun.
