    Mr. Clean,

Did not do the inflatable pillow, but now I use the sacks from my UQ and sleeping bag stuffed with leaf duff for packing under my lumbar and knees. 7 hours of sleep last night. Only woke twice....once because something (deer?) was walking around us at 3AM and a gentle rain about 4AM. Tweeking the gear is working.

    Radical,

Your story is almost identical to ours, except that hammocking actually helps your husband. That is great. Glad you're getting through the health issues. We have definitely "been there" on that road. It was an amazing thing to watch my wife smoking the trail ahead of me at 5AM. Last year, at this time, getting out of bed was an accomplishment for her. Hammocks are part of her continuing recovery.

I guess by now you have been given about all the suggestions you will need, and i see that you aren't afraid to test things out. That is the makings of a good hammock camper/hiker. I envy you that your wife is into the hiking aspect as well. Hope to see you in the woods sometime, maybe a group hang somewhere. Speaking of that, the FH4 is in the Ocala NF on MLK weekend in Jan. Usually not too cold, lots of gear to check out, a big group of folks to talk to and there has been a good meal or two as well, so try to come if you can.

    old4hats,

Thanks for the heads up about that hang. Dunno if we could swing that one, but sounds like fun.

I wish you and your wife all the best. Battling health issues is a long road, but so worth the journey.
With a radical sense of hope, I strive for the seemingly impossible.
