    whoopie alterntative

Hey guys, i thought I read about a suspension using amsteel, that worked kind of like a whoopie sling, but without dealing with a long bury (so you could set up closer to trees, without losing that 12 inches or so the whoopie sling takes up) Is there such a thing, or am I remembering it wrong? Thanks!
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.

Some new comments, and a link to the original thread...I think this is what you're talking about.

If you like the whoopies but are looking for a way to work with shorter distance hangs, you could keep the whoopie and add a continuous loop.

Use the whoopie under "preferable" hang distances.

When the hang distance gets too short for the whoopie to accomodate, you can simply put the continuous loop right over the marlinspike hitch.

+1 on the single ring suspension. I really like it as an additional option to whoopies. Its best use is exactly as you described - when the whoopie minimum distance is still too long (long hammocks on hammock stands, when using bridge hammocks, etc.).
