    velcro VS snap

Hi all. I have a burrow with the snaps but will be ordering a 40* for most of the year. Wondering how the velcro is holding up for those of you that have it. any issues? any pics? I like how the footbox comes together with the snaps, but also like to try new things. thanks everyone

I tend to defer to Adam on what I should have, and he recommends a sewn footbox, not the snap. I've never had a problem with his recommendation.

Between snaps and velcro Id go snaps velcro or omni imho is itchy and it adds more weight then snaps. However I own several burrows and have them all sewn shut. No fuss feet always stay warm and toasty. It all a matter of what the individual prefers.
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

I only have 2 of my topquilts with snaps,,a 40 and a 50,,all the others for the colder temps are sewed foot boxes cause I want as much warmth in colder weather possible. The wife and I are different,,she is hot natured,,her quilts are all snaps period so that her feet don't get hot.

I opted for snaps. I figured it might come in handy if I want to use the Burrow as a regular rectangular quilt.

Sewn for me. Most of my camping is in cooler temperatures and the slight temp increase helps. +1 on keeping it simple, too.

Mine are all sewn too. Keeps my feet warmer.

Velcro & the edges of Velcro are uncomfortable. I don't want it anywhere near my feet.

I don't have a hammockgear quilt, but my KAQ has an omnitape footbox that comes standard. I don't really like it. My problem is, that when I put my feet in, sometimes I miss a little and my feet hit the omnitape and undo it. Then I have to sit straight up and try, in the dark, to put it back together. It isn't worth it in my opinion. I am thinking about hand stitching it shut so I won't have to deal with it. I can't foresee a situation where I would want to open it up.
