Was there a difference between Omni tape, hook-n-loop and Velcro (other than the brand name)?

Some of the problems with the bottom entry Hennesseys were due to the Velcro picking up trail debris & otherwise.

wow, thanks everyone. I do like the idea of a sewn footbox, but more so for colder weather gear. I was curious about the "snag-free" labelling for the velcro, and my thoughts are confirmed. Sewn it will be if I ever get the 0* stuff, and snaps for 40* I have been noticing with my 20* that I do get some heat loss/cold air flow at the end where it cinches up. easily solved with an extra sock, but still , I could see in colder temps that being an issue. thanks again for the thoughts

Velcro is a brand of hook and loop attachment. They have a specific product called Omni tape that has both hooks and loops interspersed on each side of the tape. This way it could stick in any direction instead of having to have a strip for the hooks and a strip for the loops.

Generic versions of normal hook and loop and Omni tape exist.
