Don't worry. Most of us are normal. I don't count myself in that group of course. ;-)

Hey jax, now that I read your post about hammocks allowed in state parks here, now knowing that there are only certain areas and certain trees being allowed to be used, I looked at the Myakka river state park maps more and the site, and I couldn't find anywhere hammocks are mentioned.

    Am I missing something?

As far as them being prohibited it's not something they really advertise. However, park staff would be quick to tell you to remove it if they saw it. I know this happened to me at Faver Dykes near St. Augustine. If you called and asked they would tell you hammocks aren't allowed.

As far as them being allowed not all of the parks are fully informed. Or at least not all of the staff. Some have part-time or rotating staff that still haven't gotten word. The best course of action is to contact Philip Madden at [email protected] or (850) 245-3089 prior to visiting a State Park. He is coordinating the pilot program and can contact the park on your behalf if necessary.

So far I'm only aware of Little Talbot that's actually published their hammock support. They have a map that shows all of their hammock-approved sites along with the number of hammocks each will support.

    Hope this helps.
