who knows about good places to hang in northern california?

If you are really being picky in weight I would suggest going to whoopies or a speed hook suspension. You could even get a double ended stuff sack and ditch the snakeskins. Personally I am okay with 4lbs if I have the setup I like. I carry the heavy hennessy hex and hate the weight but love the coverage and I don't have the cash for a lighter tarp that size.

Not really that picky, it's just that I have a lumbar problem that's why I'm somewhat of a weight conscious. Lol I did a test run earlier with my Deuter Futura 32. All the stuff I will be using on a one night backpacking trip including water and food, I got my pack weight down to 20.4 lbs. I may just have to stick to the setup I have since it felt okay carrying that amount of weight around. I may even look into a double ended stuff sack like you recommended. Will also be looking into an Osprey Exos 48. I just can't get the thought of using my Aether 85 for a hammock backpacking trip. Lol Thanks for the input SLCpod! Hope to meet you in one of our future hangs.

Someone choose an area in the central Sierra and I will be there! I am down for a winter/snow trip or something lower on the mountain.
As for weight- I am generally in the 5# area minimum and as much as 9# for snow winter camping- but the Clark is a heavier hammock to start with... I did save a significant amount of weight going to Dutch-
Just purchased a BBxlc setup which should be lighter but don't have it yet.

I'd be interested in a early spring hang as well. I'm in Sac.

Do we have a date in march this will be happening? I'm in Sac and would be willing to hang with everyone too, depending on when. I already have a trip to the coastal redwoods scheduled for my birthday on the weekend of the 14th, but other than that let me know!

I think we are still working on a location and time frame. Unlike most of you guys I am not a big backpacker... My pack is for tactical three day outs. 45lbs. I still would enjoy hanging with the crowd if I don't have to hike too far. I started the hammock thing to do with my dog.

I think the weekend of the 14th would be great. I can't commit 100% yet due to school but it seems like a great idea.

I'm down to do the weekend of the 14th as well. Doctor patches, it would be nice to celebrate a birthday with a fellow hanger unless it's weird inviting myself without an invitation. Lol! My birthday is actually In 3 days and I'm itching to go out and hang, but I could wait until March. If we can't go on the weekend of the 14th, don't forget to share your post hang trip along the coastal redwoods!
