For a few ounces more you get coverage for all occasions.

I recently purchased the mj and love it. It seems to give you more options. it has plenty of coverage in the rain, and you can get doors if you want to use it in the winter

As a Superfly owner, I'd vote for the larger one, the MJ. But I LOVE winter camping. Also from GA, and plan to be at the Raven Cliffs hang in early January.

I'm in the minority, but I vote edge. It gives plenty of coverage without wasted weight. You can buy doors for it if you need them and it is a great tarp.

I'm on the thought that "you will never regret having a bigger tarp than necessary" but the opposite is not very true... And 3-8 oz of tarp is good weight to me... I would go super fly but with your option the mamajamba is a good choice as well... I would just like the option of closing the door for various reasons, modesty, high winds, rain storm that seems to be coming from all direction!!!
Live, Laugh, Love, if that doesn't work. Load, Aim and Fire, repeat as necessary...

Agree with him. If you ever wanted to go winter camping in GA you wont regret having a bigger tarp. It can get nasty in the mountains during winter!

Plus one ... My thoughts exactly. I like how in a heavy duty storm a large tarp doesn't necessarily need to be fully battened down to keep you & your kit dry ... Allowing you to enjoy the surroundings rather than up under a small closed in space.

I have the edge. I do my best Steven Tyler "Livin on the Edge!!!" scream every time i hang it. It makes me feel better about the tight situation I'm about to be in when a thunderstorm is barreling down upon me.

ps. Whats the specs on that asym?

The Asym diamond is a 132 x 100 parallelogram; I have one and it JUST covers the blackbird. I only bring it out when then weather is pristine, as a "just in case" tarp. While it is light and easy to set up, my issue is it doesn't really cover the shelf well enough to put my mind at ease. It would be a good minimalist tarp with a traveler.
