    tent help

if any of you are on some of the other forums you may have seen that i'm in the middle of a bet with a friend about fixing a cheap tent. well this got me to thinking and i might have figured out a way to use my hammock full time. i am forced to split my time with a tent because of my dog. she is a begale so shes not all that big. i was thinking that if i used a winter tarp and had something for her she might be happy with that. looking around at some of the stores i have seen some of the display tents that are really small so they dont have to set up a big one. does anyone know if i could get one of those or where? like i said with something like that i could make the hammock a full time thinkg for me.

I googled "Pet tents" and got all kinds of stuff. The internet is amazing, I had no idea there were so many options. I have had beagles, they need shelter and they need closeness. I miss mine.

If the dog is crate trained it should no problem at all to get her into a tent.

What type of hammock are you using irrationalsolutions? If it is a top loader with no netting, you could both sleep in the hammock and make use of the extra body heat. With no netting, your pooch can get in and out for bathroom breaks. I bet he/she will be whimpering if they are on the ground separated from you.

I know Nest has done it with his dog and my dad's dog loves to jump up in the hammock when I have it set-up over at his place. Both my cats spend their days sleeping away in my hammocks at home; lazy turds! You might give it a try and see if it works. A beagle seems like a small enough breed that you may get away with it and comfortably.

That's the point of the crate training. The separation would not be as extreme as if she was not crate trained. My dog does fine just tethered to the suspension of the hammock, but he does not sleep next to me at home. He's actually all over the house. I'd let him into the hammock but he's a big monster and just wouldn't fit although I have pondered the idea of a hammock of his own.

My beagles were easily crate trained. They have a natural denning instinct. I would not want her in the hammock with me. She would have to be up by my face the whole time, and the flatulence (the dog) would be unbearable. LOL. Our last beagle had a real knack for foul smells no matter what we fed her. She was adorable though.
