    I don't think the eye bolt cares if the load comes vertical or horizontal. I would be more worried about twisting the stud behind the wall.

    I crank the Ibolt all the way down to the wall in the center of the stud. I always pre drill so I don't split the studs and the ibolt is vertical. I have hung hundreds of times in my setups and never had issues.
