Welcome! I lived in Fort Worth and Weatherford for a couple years. A great place to get outdoors and maybe test stuff out if you've got the kids is Oakmont Park. There is a big field, playground, bike path and streams for the kids to play in while you tinker. It's off Bryant Irvin and Oakmont. Always worked well for me to get my forest/river fix while the kids amused themselves.
