Thinking about useing a Kingsize sheet to make a hammock

Not sure if I will use one folded in half length wise and sewn on three sidesor two again folded in half and then sewn on all four sides individually and then sew the two together on three sides. At each end a sleve throgh which a "rope" can be placed then take a couple of wraps of the rope to gather and make a way to hang the hammock.
This thought has been going through my mind for awhile now. Just wondering; would this work or would I fall on my butt at some point?

If you whipped the ends... It would work, may be a bit short... But it would work... Here's a link to how to whip the ends...

An easier route might be to just make a tablecloth hammock like so many here have done. Inexpensive, easy and proven. Here's the link.

I haven't tried any hammocks out of cotton so I can't really pass judgement on it... My advice, if you have kids have them try it out first if they are smaller than you Other than that post pictures of your product.

I saw the table cloth ones some have posted. The strength of the fabric is what was making me think about taking two and folding in half. That way there is a four layers of fabric to carry my 190/208 lb load! Not sure that table cloth would be any better strength wise though.

Hey pipsqueak, I've been 300 pounds in my one layer tablecloth for months on end. I'm a svealt 275 right now wanting to go lower, but it's plenty strong for your barely over my Junior high weight of 205 lbs.

They are right though, I got started here on Hammock forums with a king size sheet. They are no longer then queen size unless you have a california king and even then they are too short for anyone over 5 foot. You'll want two feet minimum plus your height plus whatever length is needed to tie your ends. 1 foot minimum there if 1.5 for an overhand knot on each side.

Buy a tablecloth and enjoy life. 90x132 is NICE.
