Once you get the first baffle (or two) sewn in and you get the hang of the process it'll pick up and go quicker. At least that was my experience. Looks like you are well on your way!
Really liking your visual breakdown and descriptions. Looking forward to it all together.

Hey Lupus - any comments from Mother Nature about you cluttering up her kitchen floor?

One question I have. When you taped the noseeum to the material, do you then sew next to the tape or the opposite side?BTW I like your slippers. I have a pair just like them.

A tip for other DIYers: you can roll up the no-see-um and then cut it. Much easier--at least it was for me.
Hey Lupus,
Quick question on heat sealing. Why do we do this? Isn't a rolled hem good enough or do you not roll hem when using a grosgrain channel?
Also if you have to heat seal would it not be easier (provided you have one) to use a wood burner or soldering iron to basically melt the material away and finish the seam all in one?
Thanks for the pictures and detailed information! Makes it easy for the rest of us!

No comments yet, although I did have to clean up the blue chalky mess
I'm wondering what will be her reaction when I stuff the down in the guest bathroom.
I plan on sewing next to the tape. I'll post pics this afternoon showing the results once I get everything set with the sewing machine.
I love them to. Minnetonka makes some great moccasins. Worth every penny I paid for them.
Very cool. I'll keep that in mind when I make the TQ in a few months. Once I can afford the materials again.
I did it because I read about someone else doing it to prevent fraying. I still plan on doing a rolled hem.
I don't own a wood burner or soldering iron and I wouldn't trust a heat sealed seam to hold anyway. The light heat seal I applied with the candle is really just keeping the fabric from fraying while I work with it. I don't think it will provide any long term benefit.
