What's a comparable tarp to the HH

    Hey y'all,

I'm looking for a tarp that is comparable to the Hex Rainfly 30D Silnylon

It seems Hennessy Hammock has been out-of-stock on this item for several months, so I'm trying to find a good substitute. Does anybody know of anything that is the same weight (18.6 oz) with similar coverage AND would be totally compatible with the HH Explorer Deluxe Zip?

Some day I will have to pick one of these options up probably a toxaway because of how much you can customize it. I am going to start saving pennies just barely purchased a structural ridgeline and a whoopie sling set from dutch.

The OES MacCat Ultra is similar in size and price. His tarps are very well made and be ordered with the seams already sealed.

Any sil hex tarp that is ~11 ft long or longer and ~9 ft wide or wider will give you comparable coverage; I recommend looking for one ~12 ft long or so just to be sure that the ends of your hammock are completely covered.

Both the Warbonnet Mamajamba and Superfly have the same dimensions as the Hennessy Hex--the Mamajamba is lighter and the Superfly has doors included to close off in heavy winds or cold weather.

The Arrowhead Equipment Toxaway is roughly the same size (one end is slightly narrower than the other, since you need less space down by your feet) to shave weight. AHE also offers the Hard Rock winter tarp with doors in a 12' version, but that is also heavier than the Hennessy Hex in sil.

Wilderness Logics offers the Big Daddy in a 12 ft. ridgeline.

There are other tarps offered by all three companies, but they're smaller than the Hennessy Hex. If you're willing to shell out some cash, there are a couple of makers out there that offer cuben tarps about that size (not as wide; cuben only comes in 54" rolls instead of 60"+ ones like sil). Hammock Gear is well-renowned for their tarps, and with good reason. They're usually willing to customize something to make it fit you.

    Hope it helps!

The toxaway is the same at both ends. It is the shangri la that is narrower at the foot end.
