If my mom is doing OK, and we're able to make this one (fingers crossed); I think we'll head over to Snow Trails Saturday late afternoon to go tubing....if anyone is interested. Those of you with better knees may want to snowboard or ski. It's only like 20 minutes away.

    I'll be there Friday night.

Anyone else interested in a potluck?

I'll be making something for the group that either tastes good frozen or can be warmed and re-warmed on the fire.

A group meal sounds good to me. What sort of food fits that bill? Soup or chili might do well.
    Directionally challenged...comicly so.

Not all who wonder are lost...But I'm probably just lost.

I'm thinking Friday night in on the river trail. CB200T, maybe I could leave a blaze on the trail to mark the turn off up out of the gorge to site #9.

I'm still looking for my maps from the camp store, I know I've bought at least 4 of those things, they'll turn up sooner or later.

Hello fellow Ohio hangers. I'm very interested in winter hanging and would love to get out and meet the community. I am pretty new to camping and hammock camping doubly so. Is there any site or thread that would be a good resource for a comprehensive, bare minimum gear list, needed for winter hanging? I have on order a jarhead uq, an eno tarp, WBBB (also on order), and woopie slings. I already have tree straps and have hammock camped twice previously. I'm planning on using a sleeping bag as a top quilt.

Hope to at least stop by and take notes. By the way, if there is anyone near me who wouldn't mind meeting up to talk winter gear and their setup I would be really appreciative.

I live in the greater cleveland area.

A hammock sock will add great warmth and the basic hammock sock and is super easy to sew yourself.....it's just a tube with draw cord ends. Can easily raise your micro climate 10 degrees.

Tarp that is big enough to close in the ends to help with heat.

Change of clothes so your able to go to bed in totally dry things, especially socks.

You'll want to dial in your UQ when you get it, and test at home first so you can work out the adjustments.

Basic musts: hat, gloves, something extra for your feet if you don't have down booties, something extra to stick under your butt like refectix, a bottle you can safely put hot water in to place against your femoral artery (also put the bottle in a sock or some kind of cover for extra protection).

Doctari, do you want to pick a date and location for February so we can get it on the books and others can plan ahead for it?
