i hang mine off my trek pole/guy line in porch mode. The sometimes on a near by sapling. Not sure which one you have but mine has done well comsidering the heat vs. gear worry.

I like to hang it on one of the trees my hammock is hanging from. Helps me to find my hammock in the dark if I go back and forth from the campfire area. I personally would never want it in the hammock with me.

I've got a candle lantern that I used extensively when I was un-enlightened and still sleeping on the ground. Since hanging I have had it hang directly from my whoopies a couple nights. The lantern I have burns for around 9 hours on one candle. When I was in a tent I used it mainly to remove condensation from the tent. I am still working on a suitable system for the hammock.
