Radiohead- Extra firewood is always welcome! It keeps Ramenshaman from going caveman on us all! (I'll bring a little I've got leftover from the previous run).

Namnat...even though it's a "hang"...it's really just an excuse for a bunch of outdoor-type gear junkies to get together and have fun. Bring the tent!!!

Kerflop- I'll be honest...I'm a lazy sort. On the first run, everyone fended for themselves. On the second run, we all brought food for ourselves but were fed by one of the most giving guys I've met...Brian from over on BCUSA came out and he brought enough food to feed an army! So...if you'd like to cook for others, bring extra. If nothing else, make sure you've got chow you'll enjoy. Either way is fine and no one will mind one way or another!

No doubt, its our turn to feed Brian.

Roughly how far a walk is it from the CG down to the lake, is it 15 min walk? Considering hanging there, but hanging out and eating with you guys.
Kinda cool to wake up with the sun coming up over the water.

It's about 1/2 a mile down to the water's edge with a decent amount of elevation change (for the prairie).

Owl, I have no understanding of a surplus of firewood. No one is safe from the caveman, especially the caveman. haha!

I believe Fugawee is correct, Brian was 1066VIK's BCUSA buddy. Speaking of whom, 1066VIK showed some interest in a (circa) Jan. hang....

    <taps screen> Hey, 1066VIK, you out there?

Thanks for the ping owl -- been busy teaching a coworker woodworking and haven't been online as much lately.
I should be able to make it to this one, and will post up a thread about it over on BCUSA.
I can also bring a spare hammock in case one of the newer ground sleepers feels adventuresome. (got a wal-mart $25 special I've been using as a gear sling. works good if you're under 5' 10" and 225#s -- which I'm not)
I tried out my down bag and a sheet of reflectix a couple weeks ago on the river SW of Columbia, Mo -- it got down to 17 but I was plenty cozy. Figured I started 2012 with a hang i should end it the same way.

looking forward to seeing you guys in 2 weeks.

I have a couple extra hammocks I'm bringing as well, a single and double wide Grand Trunk. Also I have a 4-season Coleman 2-person tent if anyone wants to stick to ground level and swap out if they are only in a 3-season.

Count me in from STL! I have a rough sketch of this trip in mind but am 90% sure I can make it there.

Being new to backpacking, I have much to learn and by spontaneously planning trips I don't see where I could go wrong.

Really anticipating the turn out and the weather, either which way, I'll hopefully be seeing y'all Feb 1st

Glad to have you along! This is a good run to learn some basic stuff...car camping, so the bail out or grab more gear options remain easier to do if need be.
