    Claytor compared to DD

Do you find that the Claytor Mosquito hammock is very simular to the DD Travel Hammock?

the biggest difference i could see was the claytor has a double layer bottom and for me that is a big difference

with the quality control issues claytor seems to be having that may not mean as much to others

it would make the decision harder for me

No, DD hammocks are double layer

The only DD hammock that is NOT double layer is the mesh hammock.

The fact of double layer is there.

A little about the DD Travel Hammock for those who have not seen one before:

The DD Travel Hammock is a two layer hammock, which means there are two layers below you when lying in it normally and the mosquito net above you. The reason for two layers is that if you are camping in cold weather you can put a thermarest/ pad between the layers which provides good insulation. Two layers also mean the hammock is stronger

Further, one of the optional uses of the double layer is illustrated with a pic for at least one of them, as as an enclosed shelter, and as a water-proof bivy in the case of the Travel model.

At <$100, these may be the least expensive jungle-hammocks (ie with integrated bugnet) on the market. I forget whether you will find the weights w/o included heavy nylon paracord-like suspension here.

i was thinking of getting another claytor for a friend of mine to use. but might just get a DD. from all i read about it sounds like a awesome hammock with good customer relations.wish it was in a "good" camo pattern like woodland or tigerstripe or even dpm.

Can't speak about claytor but dd does have great customer service. Another vendor that has very similar hammocks is tenth wonder, they seem to be getting getting good rep over this side of the pond and have a couple more options for size.
