    Agree with what everyone has said about 83%.
    Only point I would make is that it has to from rl attachment points not hammock length I.e. if attaching to rings, it should be 83% of the length between the rings when laid flat.

    The only thing I can add to this is that when replacing your ridgeline with an adjustable ridgeline is to mark the adjustable ridgeline with a permenent marker at increments of 1" this allows you to change the length and be able to know where your are in terms of future ajustments.

    Just checking. This is how I measure hammock "length" too - while the hammock is flat on the floor. Other thoughts?

    Yes, I usually get my daughter to hold one end, while I stretch it out, both holding the tapemeasure at the knot of my gathered end. It's the point that my continuous loops attach, and the ridgeline goes around them.....RR
