    Tie-out seem seal?

I want to add extra tie-outs to my tadpole, And i was wondering if I needed to seem seal where I sewed the new tie-outs? They will be at the bottom part of the tarp, so I can make doors.

If the tie-outs are at the very bottom, like the other tie-outs, then no need to seal. If they are I the middle, to pull the sides out, away from the hammock, then yes......RR

    +1

But I also seal the ridgeline tie outs so that water won't run down the underside of the ridge and drip on you through the night.

That is what I thought. Now my next question, I want bigger doors, and a pretty wide angle of hang, so what is a good distance I should put my tie-outs?

I strongly suggest you set the hammock and tarp up and play with different tie out placements to find out what works for you. Use binder clips or a pebble under the tarp as temporary tie outs....or simply leave one corner loose, hold the side a few feet from the corner and fold the door in to see how it works.

If my tarp or "width of hang" is different from your's, my placement would not be correct for you.

Hang the tarp use some binder clips or clothespins to close the doors and also for your tie out points , then play with them till you have what you want.
mark and sew on new tie outs.

That's a good idea. I didn't think about using binder clips. How high up the tarp should I sew the tie-outs? Like 1/2"-1"?

I'm guessing you will find that the bottom edges of a hex tarp like the Tadpole are not long enough to provide usable doors and "a pretty wide angle of hang" will only make it worse.

You'll need to reinforce the tarp where a tie out is attached or have the tie out run 2-3" up the tarp to spread the load.

Look at how the existing tie outs are reinforced.

Okay, I'll consider that too. I didn't, and don't expect to have much of doors, but something to block some of the wind and or rain would be nice

Have you considered using a poncho as an improv Grizz beak? I show how I do that in this video:

Since then, I've added grosgrain loops to the shoulders of the poncho, to avoid the floppiness that I point out in the video. A short piece of line to go 'round the tree at the end that I put the poncho up on, and I'm good to go.

Most times these days, I go with a different tarp/poncho set up, but when I still use the giant Hennessy Hex, this is what I do.

    Hope it helps!
