Whoopie Sling Suspension, did i do this right?

so i just made my first whoopie sling suspension with 7/64 amsteel. on the hammock end i put a locked brummel. i fed the loop from the locked brummel through the channel on my eno double nest. then fed everything back through the eye. i've tried to attach a pic of it, hopefully it works. i haven't taken the rope off that came with it, i want to make sure this works ok.

well since i started typing this i got destracted and made another one the same way. it is hanging up in my hall and seems to work. its the first time the hammock has had 2 people on it and nothing budged.

so i'm just wondering if it was ok to string it though the hammock like i did? or is there a better way to do it?

I connect my whoopies to an Amsteel continuous loop with a Dutch hook. That way I don't have to have wet, sticky tree straps all over my nice, dry hammock.

a dry hammock is a good thing, i have yet to try to hang in the rain. when hanging outside i was planning to use a beener to connect it to webbing for the tree. could i hang something from the beener as a drip line?

You want a continuous loop on your hammock end and a biner or ring attaching that to your whoopie. That is the drip stop. The biner must be under the tarp.

You can tie a piece of pack towel to your whoopies, as a drip line. Anything to interrupt the steady flow of the water down from the line exposed to the rain to your hammock should suffice.

The way you attached the whoopies is fine I think. I"m planning on using a continuous loop through the channel of my ENO DN and then larks heading on either a set of whoopies or a dynaglide UCR, depending on what I have on hand and what mood I'm in at the time.

I do it just like you did. I haven't had any problems, but be careful with more than one person in there....

ok great to hear. that was the first time that 2 people had been in the hammock, but we both weigh less than 200 lbs. he jumped in (not litterally) to help test the new suspension. i'm too greedy to try to share a hammock with someone for very long.

Please remember that "Dutch Hooks" are a specific item that are meant for use on tarp lines. A Dutchware "Whoopie Hook" however is the correct item for a Hammock suspension. It is your disconnect so you can stow away the sticky, wet suspension in a different location than your hammock and it makes a great drip point if it is hooked to a small continuous loop under your tarp.

There are several ways to successfully attach your hammock and suspension. Your's is fine. Just add something like a piece of shoelace just before the hammock to intercept rainwater.
