Of Snakeskins and Tarps On HH

So, I have seen the snake skins used 3 differents ways in videos.
    1) On tarp and hammock as one big bundle
    2) On tarp with tarp tied off seperately from the hammock
    3) On HH with tarp removed and folded up. Tarp had been tied on same suspension as HH.

So which do you do and why?

I'm a noob but plan to go with #3 but I'm liking the tarp on its own suspension.

I've just gotten hands on my Explorer Deluxe and Hex Tarp, ordered in Oct but it was sent to Santa.

It does say that the tarp should go on it's own suspension due to wind profile, but I'm hoping to use the one set of snake skins.

When my HH Explorer Deluxe arrives I'm planning to have the hammock in snakeskins (and stored in a drybag), and the hex fly with separate rigging in a small stuff sack. I saw a couple of vids of this on theultimatehang.

I am also a noob but I have a few thoughts.

I have a HH expedition, and I opted not to get the stock tarp. I bought the hex tarp instead. I wanted the larger size right out the gate.

I have been hanging it both on its own suspension and on the prusik knots. I am still undecided, but one thing I did notice yesterday is that when the tarp is hung from the HH suspension, and you start rocking back and forth in your hammock in sit mode. You get this giant swaying tarp overhead. That is kind of annoying. But I love only having one set of wraps on the tree. I am going to experiment with shock tensioned tie outs, but I may ultimately go with the tarp on its own suspension.

I do not know how much room will be left in a snakeskin after I get the supershelter and put it in as well. I think the supershelter is starting to look like a must have if you have a HH hammock.

    One big bundle

I have done a variation on this for 5 years: I also include the undercover in the bundle. The underpad is packed separately in a waterproof stuff sack.

I do it this way for simplicity and speed of setup/teardown. Yes, the tarp is not taut when attached to the ridgeline, but it doesn't bother me.

#4...on HH with tarp on separate suspension. My MacCat tarp goes on it's own suspension and into it's own stuff sack. My tarp is almost always covered with dew in the morning or it will be wet from rain. I generally don't want to pack the tarp and hammock together.

When it's bad weather I can leave the hammock in the skins until I'm ready to get into bed. This leaves a large open area under my tarp to cook, pack, etc. The local ground dwellers become your best friends when you have the only spot of dry ground around.

Yes but when you watch the videos at Hennessy he hang it both ways.

I decided not to go with the SS but rather with an UQ made by Jacks or Better.
http://www.jacksrbetter.com/quilts/ check out the nest and the winter nest. I decided on the next since 90% of my camping will be done in warmer weather. When I camp in colder weather I will use my CCF pad

Now that makes sense to me. I keep thinking my tarp will be at least damp and I don't want that on my hammock. I also like the idea of using the tarp as a cover in wet weather.
