Wow - the envelope keeps getting pushed! Loving that! I will be trying this on my diy. My issue may only be the wider nature of my DIY hammocks.

Hey Sgt. Rock, at about the 9:40 mark, you hook the far side of your quilt up to the foot end. It looks like you're clipping the quilt hook to the netting. Am I seeing that correctly?

If so, why do you connect to that and not your hammock? Also, what is the netting? It doesn't look as though it's used as your bugnet (being at your feet and all)?

Sew button holes on the gunwales of the hammock into the hem or zipper backing, OIW --short reinforced slits. Hook the UQ into the buttonhole. No additional hardware = less weight.

You are the second person to notice that. I'll try not to bore ya...

My Ghost hammock includes a foot-box to make the lay like the lay of a larger hammock. A while back there was a discussion about stretch side vs foot-box and I found the UK Hammock's Woodsman X hammock video and have used it to demonstrate how a foot-box actually changes the shape of a hammock unlike a stretch side mod that simply makes the edges come up around you so stuff doesn't fall out. You can see this video here:

Go to about minute 5:00 and see how they do it. Anyhow, after seeing that and exchanging some messages with Matthew of UK Hammocks, I decided to take the fabric foot-box off my hammock and replace it with an adjustable string version so I could influence the lay and also take the foot-box out for the rare occasion I didn't want/need it. Also, based on that message conversation, I made the fabric part of my foot-box out a "curtain" of nanoseeum net to keep stuff in around that area. I picked it because it is stupid light and breaths well. I also had some scraps of it left around to play with from a couple of other projects.

So yes, you do see me hooking that into bug net on that one corner. But no, it is not a bug net for the hammock in practice. Just a curtain for the foot-box.

I was able to try this on my 11x60" Knotty mod today. It worked well. Took a bit to get the adjustments...getting the right sag in the butt area was tricky at first. I believe it would work best on a narrow or ghost style hammock as far as the center supports go. They tend to pull the quilt too tight and compress it in the butt area...ymmv. I chose to clip them on the long sides (right shoulder/left knee) right where the quilt ends and that halped for.my setup pretty well. Im using red 1/8" nylon shockcord from Owfinc and its not the stiffest stuff ever....may work.better wilth at bit more taught cord.

I have a ghost clone...if you will, 10'8"x 52". Im going to set it up next. I have a few more hacks I have to do to it first.
Appreciate the Video/knowledgeand the lighter rig.
Ill take it up in the mountains next weekend and give it the overnight test....find all the bugs/ coldspots etc.

I slept outside in mine last night and had a slightly cold butt at the start. Turned out the center hooks had come off. Once I hooked them back on the hem it solved the issue. 24f last night. I did have a small pad under my butt and the underquilt was a Phoenix 0f.
