Triangle Thingies... I'm not sure I understand

I was having a nasty time taking care of CBS with my long New River. The problem has been keeping the quilt from sagging away from my butt. So I ordered up some triangle thingies and set them up and... couldn't even tension the UQ using them. There was a ton of sag. I wound up using the suspension that came with the New River and then running the lines from the Thingies through the tabs on the side and hooking them to the middle tab. This works ok, but leaves me somewhat entangled in a spidermanesque (that's a word now) web.

So, any chance I can get some education on the proper use of these tools?

    Thanks and God bless,
    Adam

Here's a link to Dehoja's gallery with an excellent (as usual) illustration.

That's how I tried setting it up initially. However, even with max tension on the Thingies the quilt was a sagmaster. Maybe it's because of the quilt is a long?

    Edit: Almost forgot, Thank you!

He does offer then for 3/4 or FL UQs. Maybe you are using wrong ones.

I use the Triangle Thingies on my 3/4 underquilt to help 'aim' the quilt on a diagonal and keep my shoulder covered in my WBBB.
I can think of two ways the quilt could be pulling away from your bottom: quilt is too long, or is acting too long, OR (maybe AND) the quilt is wider than it needs to be (or is acting that way).
Is there a way you can rig some attachments connecting the extra tabs on the quilt to the edge of your hammock? If it is sagging from the sides that might help, and would avoid the Spidermanesque thing.
If I'm reading you right, you've run the shock cords of the Triangle Thingies through the extra grograin tabs? If so, you have essentially elasticised the edges of your quilt. That might be another thing to try.

You can only do so much by tensioning the ends. Try setting up some shock cord from the middle of your quilt straight up over your ridgeline to support the middle of your quilt.

    Gunner,
I got the Thingies designed for a full sized quilt. But that would be the first place to start.

I might look into some kinda quilt-to-hammock tab arrangement. You are reading right about my usage of the grograin tabs. How does one elasticate the edges of a quilt? Also, I'd like to thank you, for stepping forward, for the public recognition of the word "spidermanesque."

    Bubba,
That is essentially what I have done with the Triangle thingies.

Thank you all for the quick and thoughtful responses!

The quilt that works the best for me (my 3/4 quilt) has channels on the long edges of the quilt and the shock cord suspension for the UQ runs through the channels from one end of my hammock to the other, allowing me to scoot the quilt back and forth along the shock cord. So I suppose those edges are not really elasticisied (still can't spell that).

You could put channels on the edges and add elastic that way (you can leave an opening in the channel somewhere and have a toggle adjustment) or you could - if you are sure how much elastic to use and how tight to make it, sew it directly to the edges of the quilt.
I'd use channels and shockcord and a toggle, myself.

I'll have to consider that. I've not got any DIY skills or equipment ATM, but I am seriously considering asking dad to dig up mom's old sewing machine, so who knows.

And thank YOU for the word "elasticate"!

You can buy you some single fold bias tape:

and sew it along the edges of your quilt with two lines of stitches (maybe a friend or professional seamstress can do this for you). Then run shock cord through the channel formed between the stitches. Add cord locks for adjustability. Buy bias tape in the notions department of any fabric store. Good luck!
