I think you may be seeing a lot of me again this hike. I can put in some slow miles myself.

I may have to get an earlier start if I want to ensure getting to the cabin before dark.

Buttered up rangers sounds like a good idea.

I haven't been out for a while so the 2 mph is a no go for me also.

Yeah we tend to go 1 to 1.5 mph since we both like to check out the scenery and take pics along the way

At a casual pace, I covered the RS to Hobbs Cabin in about 4 hours. If you're used to hiking in the mountains, this first day will be very easy, since there is maybe 300 feet of climbing over a dozen micro-climbs total.

If you stop for 15 minutes out of every hour, you could still make it easily in about 5-6 hours.

If you are truly slow, you will take longer to walk the 5 miles on Saturday slower than this first walk in.

SAVAGE GULF: 7 -10 MARCH 2013 (OFFICIAL DATES) Thread

Well the sun will be up by around 6:30, so a group breakfast could certainly work I folks want to do so on Friday.

I did just realize that we "Spring Forward" when we arise Sunday the 10th!
Afoot and light-hearted, I take to the open road,
Healthy, free, the world before me,
The long brown path before me, leading wherever I choose.

Let's all start crossing good weather fingers for the breakfast buffet in the Gulf Friday morning.
Last time from the rangers to hobbs took me 3.5 hours-they had me freeked about hiking at night
Lot's of places if I rember right to linger on the way.

Watch your weather MedicineMan,,,weatherman this morning was talking about 6 diff. fronts moving thru during the next 2 weeks of cold and snow/mix/rain type weather. Maybe by then it will level out and have decient weather for your weekend. Wished I was there,,have 2 shows to set for that weekend and now have to bounce up to Clevenland to see and visit a possible show contract for the future..so really tied up that weekend now. Will enjoy your posts and videos of this weekend. I have fished the lake there in tourneys before. Awesome country.
