Very interesting Shug, thanks for sharing. I was thinking maybe a full length Ridgerest with the bottom third folded up and placed under your feet might work. The full length pad would go from your buttocks to your feet, with the foot section doubled. Maybe use velcro to attatch some evazote between the folded section.

    Very interesting indeed Shug.
Just to make something clear, we are talking Fahrenheit, are we?

Have you tried the pillow under your knee trick ?
I tried that the other night, i found it very warm and comfortable.

One more thing, a warm water bottle down there by your feet might have helped, but maybe that's cheating while testing

I'm going out tomorrow night again, only expecting -10 C (14F).

**** this "all off the sudden" warm winters
And no snow at all, so all gear will be on my back.

Over and out from a warm sector 63.

That was kinda what I had going on .... the GG pad was more under my feet with the blue CCF pad and went to my buttocks. One more short pad under would have helped I suppose..... but I have already installed the full UQ now and will test the 1/2 UQ more on another cold night.
The 1/2 UQ idea I am comfortable with down to 20º to 15º but that will require more tests as well......

Yessir Moski ... Fahrenheit. The down vest or something under the knees is very nice indeed.
I was to lazy to get up and boil water but thought about it. Gonna start doing that more!
Have a great sleep out and give a report.
We have had three years of warm winters as well but this year is like the good old fashioned Minnesota winter.
It will be back for you in Sweden.....
Glad to hear all is secure in sector 63
