This is more of a question for WarBonnet Guy, but I am opening it up to all. Can the saddlebags on the RR be turned around so the bigger part of the saddlebags is toward the middle of the hammock??? If not, why not???

Might be able to custom order it that way. I see no reason why they couldn't be oriented in that direction...
Thanks Yukon, I got the idea from another member on one of the other RR threads. I may do that. I already pm'd Brandon to ask him his thoughts on it.

When I first tried my RR, I thought the saddlebags would be better off turned around as well. After using them for a while, I like them as is.
The shallow end allows me to get to small items (flash light, water bottle, etc.) right where my hand naturally falls without having to dig around. The deep end by my shoulders works well for larger items like a pillow or clothing. These items sit flush with the top pocket and remain easy to get to.

What about having the big end toward the middle of the hammock on one side, and the other side have the shallower end toward the middle. That way the best of both. Or, would it look stupid???

If you cut one,,you have to cut the other, as you will flip them from side to side to get them the way you them. And, you would have to cut them leaving enough material to re-sew them back on. In other words, I don't think you would want to cut them right next to the hammock body itself. It can be done if than is what you want to modify the hammock to your benifit.

I haven't gotten the RR yet, was wondering it I should have Brandon do it special that way when he makes it???

I have a couple of RR's and thought that the saddle bags were odd at first but I absolutely love them now.. As mentioned, the shallow ends falls perfect where my hands are so that is where I put my headlamp and small items. I use the litte pocket above my head for a water bottle and I put clothes and my camp shoes in the deep ends of the saddlebags.
You will be surprised at how much stuff you can put in the saddlebags......
Another thought on this...having the deep section of the saddlebags in the middle may make them more apt to drag on the ground. I'm not sure if my butt or the pockets would be lower without setting up again.
