Occasionally, the scrub down here is challenging, but it's been possible for me to find a spot so far--even if it takes a little looking to get one that isn't covered in palmetto.
do they allow you to hang in fl state parks now.

I had my hammock ripped in half on one of my trip and I was glad I had the pad. I was depressed for the rest of the day.

Has anybody have to bail out on a trip because their hammock ripped in half?

Unfortunately, I think the correct answer for us all is either yes or not yet .

I camped in a spot that burnt about 10-15 years ago. I finally found a spot but, it wasn't an optimal hang and it required a bit of bushwhacking to get to.

I camped in a site that burnt about 10-15 years ago. Almost all the trees' diameter, were about baseball bat sized at eye-level and where way to springy to hang from. I finally found a spot but, it wasn't an optimal hang and it required a bit of bushwhacking to get to.

Yes. North of 50*. All black spruce up there and sometimes cannot find two safe trees.
The road to success is always under construction.

That depends an awful lot on how far East/West you are. I drive up to 52.5 lat twice a year in Northwestern Ontario. It's all good sized jack pine up there. If you go to Sask, you're up a few hundred kilometers farther North, and still in nice sized trees.

The only areas I've had with no real options are spots that have recently burned or been cut. There are some great camping spots, but you can't hang on a 1" diameter tree.

There are spots in south Texas where it is nothing but brush, bushes that are chest high and impossible to walk through... I have generally though just kept walking until I find some more mature mesquite trees to hang from... It is time like this though that I am reminded why I carry the extra long tree straps that I do, if I only carried 5' straps like some people I would be in for a very bad night...
