5 nighter on the Foothills Trail

Just got back from 5 nights on the Foothills trail. I wanted to take time to thank anyone out there who has helped maintain this trail. This trail might be one of the best maintained trails Ive been on. You can tell a storm had come through very recently and if is wasnt for The FTC, it would have been a nightmare. All in all the weather was great and I got to lay in a Hammock Gear underquilt for the first time and boy it sure was nice.

+1 to thanking all those who take the time, make the effort, and put give of themselves so that all of us can go out and wander in the woods; three cheers for trail maintainers everywhere! Glad you had such a positive experience--hope for many more to come.

Alright, you're just teasing us now.
You can't cover 5 nights on the FHT with 3 lines of text.
I recognized the area between Sloan's Bridge and Upper Whitewater Falls.
Where did you start, Where did you camp...
    Did you see Bigfoot?
    I want details!
He is your friend, your companion, your defender... he is your dog. You are his life, his leader, and master. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of that devotion.

No Bigfoot unfortunately but we did get to sneak up on some turkeys though. We started at Burrels Ford Rd and ended at Sassafras mountain. We did about 8 miles a day and camped along all the major water crossings. We kind of had the trail to ourselves. Only crossed paths with one other hiker the entire 6 days. I was surprised at how few "campsites" were along this trail. Another good sign of a well maintained trail. We did find great campsites at all the major water crossings though, which included the Toxaway river. It was pretty neat to see a gigantic field of grass along this part of the trail. A nice break from all the Rhododendron and Laurel
