    Lawson Equipments Mini Line Locks

I bought a handful of these mini line locks that Lawson Equipment sells about 2 months ago to make the setup of my tarp easier. After over a dozen setups in sun, rain, snow/ice, I have to say they work great! I use slippery zing-it for my tarp lines and the mini line locks work perfectly. It takes just a few seconds to adjust and they hold well enough that I had my stakes pulled out of the ground by high winds - the line locks didn't change position at all.

They're cheap and also weigh very little. The only bad thing about them is they're tiny and easy to lose before you hook them up. Yes, I lost 2 of them somewhere.

Adjustment is a snap in winter weather - you don't need to take your gloves off to adjust them.

I got in a fight one time with a really big guy, and he said, "I'm going to mop the floor with your face." I said, "You'll be sorry." He said, "Oh, yeah? Why?" I said, "Well, you won't be able to get into the corners very well."

I use them as well and have really good luck with them. I have them up by the tarp. How are you using them?

Nice looking. Can you paint them Glo-Orange??, for when you drop them in the woods.
Looks like the bind & lock the cord?. like Purssick(Sp) does?.

I too have been using these throughout this year (bought from Zpacks with some other gear). I really like them a lot, only thing I disliked is that I think I used too much line, so when I wanted to really pitch the tarp low, I had to use another method and did not use these.

I just put them on my CF tarp with shorter pulls outs and as yet have not tested it out in the field. I do like how easy they are to adjust and how light they are (granted purists might argue that not having them is even lighter).

    Happy New Year everyone

Same as you, dragon. I've used them for awhile and really like them.

They also come in glow in the dark. I'm sure you can paint them too. Once they're on the line, they can't come off. I lost mine between the house and back yard as I was going out to put them on the tarp lines. Yes, to the binding type - works great with 2.2mm and smaller line. My line is 1.8mm.

You got that right - I also have too much line. I'm too lazy to refit everything right now.

Mine came from the Hf store, but are the same. I'm using a set up that Shane showed us, and it works very well for me, fast and secure.

I love these too but had the same issue as L84toff - when you want to pitch your tarp down low they will only allow you to shorten to ablout half the length of the tarp line. I shortened the lines from 8' to 6' and think this will help, but wondering if other have found a good work-around?
    see you on the trail,

Thee was an answer in another thread a while back that solved the problem of the long line not allowing a close to the ground pitch. It mentioned "Shanes method" which had the line locks connected to the shock cord right up close to the tarp. This reversed the way the line locks worked and there was no doubling of the line. I can't remember the thread name and I tried searching for Shanes method but couldn't find it. Maybe someone remembers how to find that thread.

I also use Shane's method. In addition to using less line, it lets you adjust the tension while still under the tarp.
