    Newbie from New Jersey

Hello I'm Dennis from NJ I am a kayak sailing, fisherman and I have a ENO Double Nest Hammock. I have been practicing setting it up and taking it down. I recently purchased a Kellty Noahs Tarp 9'x9'. I'm looking forward to using the tarp. One thing I do not have is Bug Screen but I am in the market for one now. I may try a DIY to keep the cost down. With this setup, I may be able to stay outdoors longer and meet the best people along the way.

I have been invited to camp out for 7 days in July 2013 kayak sailing by day and hanging up a hammock along the way around The Great Peconic Bay in New York.

Last time I went camping with my friends, They had rented a double wide trailer with fireplace, microwave, stove, sink, bathroom, And tv. I had brought a tent and sleeping bag and they said I could sleep in a bed in the spare room. They even gave me clean sheets and a pillow. That is not camping in my book.

I have been educating myself with a lot of DIY and Hammock videos on youtube. It looks like hanging is the way to camp. I really like what I see, I wan't to be a hanger too.
I hope to educate myself more as I go through this forum and I want to meet you nice people along my journey. Thank you for letting me join you in my new adventure.
    Dennis

Welcome to hangin' and the forum! You've come to the right place! There's a big event 25-27 Jan you might be interested in, the 6th Annual New Jersey Hang. You'll get to meet a lot of people and check out different rigs. I'm looking forward to getting out there for the first time myself. There's a thread on this in the outings category.

Welcome aboard. There's plenty to learn, and folks are mighty friendly. Feel free to ask plenty of questions along the way.

Like JC said, the annual NJ Winter Hang is at the end of the month - feel free to come check it out. It's a great way to see all sorts of gear, and learn from the people that have been using it for a while. Plus there's great food and good company.

Even if you don't have a lot of gear, and need to come with a tent and sleeping bag in order to handle the weather - we won't mind!

    Cheers.
