Another opton is dodgers. "Dodger" refers to pieces of separate cloth used to close off an opening, to shelter a place on deck, or to help otherwise to dodge the weather. Granite Gear sells a tarp with optional dodgers.

Or your poncho can function as a dodger on one end with a ground cloth or dedicated dodger for the other, if needed.

I always shut my doors unless it's really muggy and I want as much airflow as possible, or there's something to watch like a sunset or sunrise.

I quite like the enclosed feel I get with the doors shut. If there's a prevailing wind coming through camp I'll close the end off into the wind and use the opposite end for access.

When the rain starts coming down sideways I like the extra protection too, winds are kind of swirly on our wee island

I've got doors on my Superfly and HG 4S Cuben

When not using the doors, I take the tie out from one door to the D- ring or loop on the other door, on the same side of the tarp. I don't think I have any pics to show. But it looks like a tarp with no doors, when set up. Keeps the guy-lines out of the way, and the doors too.

I prefer doors in the colder months, summer no doors......RR

I just added half length doors - 36" tall - to my Big Daddy tarp. Using hook & loop for the closure and will be adding a roller furling tie to roll them shut to the side & secure like a sail. Will get some pix up when I'm done.
