Side note- looks like we will have all the charcoal covered for the Duch Oven competition and for anyone else who may need to cook over coals.

Sausage Gravy Biscuits and Scrambled Eggs

    Where??
Goat Island Hang- Casa de Swampfox
    When??
    Sunday morning May 19

For a small donation to the Goat Island Fire Ring Fund, get Sausage Gravy Biscuits and Scrambled Eggs for breakfast.
    Children $3
    Adults $5
    Families $10
All proceeds go to the Goat Island Fire Ring Fund
I have added a column to the
    Goat Island Hang Sign-up Sheet

If you want to participate, please sign up so I'll know how to plan the amount of food, number of Dutch Ovens, etc.

    Swampfox Sausage Gravy

    2lb. pork sausage
    8 slices bacon
    1 onion, diced
    2 tsp minced garlic
    4 c. water
    4 c. milk
    1 tsp. black pepper
    ˝ cup flour

Cut the bacon up into 1 inch pieces and fry it separately, drain the grease.
Brown the sausage, garlic, and onion in a Dutch oven.
Do not drain the grease from the sausage, it seasons the gravy.
    Add the bacon
    Add flour and pepper.
Add milk, and water to the mixture a little at a time and stir constantly, browning the gravy
Stir well and bring to a heavy simmer but not boiling.
Add a little more flour for a thicker gravy, add milk to thin it.
    Serve over biscuits, potatoes, etc.
Makes about 12, 1 cup servings

    See you there.

    A real Sausage Fest

One week away. Let the count down BEGIN!!!!

Just picked up the smoked sausage and Kielbasa sausage for the boil saturday night (had to get it today b/c I will be in Charleston most of next week for work). 20# is a lot of sausage. ... just sayin'

While in Charleston, I've been given a mission. Looks like we will be having some super fresh shrimp for the boil and I CAN'T WAIT!!!

Also- The Grand Prize for the Dutch Oven Dessert Competition came in the mail today and it looks Super Awesome!!!! I can't wait to unveil this at camp Saturday night

That looks edible... but the proof is in the pudding! At the lake this weekend for Mother's Day and the initial report is the lake water is breath-takenly chilly. I will say I am seeing several boaters and people tubing so as far as my girls are concerned.... Game On!

    Hey CW.... you hungry yet???

Looks like I will miss this hang as well. I currently live in SW PA. My wife just took a position at Duke in NC. missed the smoking butt hang in NC, now I will miss this hang as well. Are the more than one major group hang in these areas? We will be relocating to NC sometime early June.
