Ready for the sleepover in the basement

So this year we are hosting 2 foreign exchange students: from Spain and Ukraine. When they arrived at the start of the year we showed them our hammocks in the basement. They thought it was a little strange and just kind of blew it off as yet another crazy American quirk. Then…finally…Our Ukrainian “daughter” invited a friend to spend the night and she decided to try out the hammocks to sleep in. She had what she said was the best night’s sleep. She has slept down in the hammock 80% of the time since and can’t get enough of it. She said she wants one in her room here and back home in Ukraine. She can’t wait to go camping (she is sick right now) once she is better.
Well our student from Spain is having a sleep over tonight with 3 of her friends (also exchange students with other families – from Belgium, S Korea, and Spain). She decided to give the hammock a try. So we have it all set up with 4 hammocks.







We have 2 danger birds (Dream Hammock) and 2 Brazilian hammocks. I am using some little bolt on rings from Ikea (designed to ceiling mount their hanging chairs). I have the rings screwed into solid 2x6 studs with coated decking screws.





So far I have been able to hang 2 hammocks from the same ring with full size adults hanging, no problems. I put the little rope loops in between the carabineers and the metal rings so that I would not get the metal to metal slight grinding sound when swaying in the hammocks. I have a foam pad in one of the dangerbirds and underquilts in the other ones. I think they should sleep pretty comfortable.

That's awesome. Your "daughters" will never forget a hammock sleep over. I have been trying to think of a place I can hang mine in the house where the wife won't kill me. No basements here in eastern nc.

Update:
So I went down there this morning with my wife to wake them up and they all made it through the night. This is what we saw: (Yes there are some heads in there among all the down goodness)





They were all sleeping like logs. They said they were warm and comfortable all night. It looked like they all slept in them the "right way" (Diagonal lay). They said they were comfortable, but would still prefer their bed at home over hammock. So I would say it was a success
