What are your DIY resolutions this year?

Well, it started out slowly for me this past spring with a basic gathered end hammock and bug sock, but six hammocks, a couple of bug socks, tarps, various suspensions, stuff sacks, wall hooks, and a down underquilt later and I'd say I'm hooked on DIY hammocking!

What DIY projects do you have planned for the new year?

I'd like to finish up these in the coming months:

    Synthetic under quilt
    Synthetic top quilt
    Winter sock
    Better bug sock
Huge tarp for two (for hanging next to my five year old)

    I'll join!

    1. Gathered end hammock
    2. Cuben fiber backpacks
    3. Backpack that turns into hammock
    4. A couple of sleeping bags/quilts
    5. (When I have a bit more funding) Cuben fiber tarps.
Hopefully I can have all these done by summer time and try to go SUL backpacking!

I started on new year's day with my own power bars

I hope to continue to make my own backpack. Initial calculations put it somewhere below 1300 grams with a frame and at over 100l, but I will see where it ends up once the material is here.

Then we'll see what kind of inspirations (crazy ideas) I run across..

    my goals are

    1) make a tarp.

    2) make my oldest Daughter(8) (my hiking buddy) her own hammock.

    3) if two goes well, make my dad a hammock that he can take on his hikes with his hiking club.

Can't say I have any resolutions for DIY, I just kinda work on things as they strike me. Currently on my working table though are:

    • SUL Hammock - Less than a pound including suspension and removable bugnet/topcover.
    • SUL Backpack - Less than a pound and able to carry up to 35 pounds comfortably, around 2500ci in main compartment
    • Daughter's Bridge hammock - got 6 months to do this one, plenty of time
    • Neck Knife - reprofiling the blade and lengthening the tang on my old knife after its handle broke
    • Wood/Alcohol/Esbit stoves - can never have too many stoves

I don't have too much, I have made hammock and tarp lines, learned how to make whoopies... Ny first one which may be in the next week or so is turning my Gt ultralight into a mini spread bar... Then I want bishop bags and/or skins for my tarp...
Oh and a top entry bug net for my silver tablecloth hammock and maybe my daughter's while I'm at it...
