Hardware throw down...whats your favorite way to connect a tree strap to amsteel...and why?

I'm not sure if the attached picture came through...but here is whats on my hardware list. I have these ordered from heaviest to lightest...I think...my scale is kinda crappy. The weights listed are those that my scale reads...so I apologize in advance if I mess them up.

    1. Biner- 26g

    2. Square cinch buckle- 26g

    3. SMC decending rings- 22g

    4. triangle cinch buckles- 17g

    5. Elaphant trunk-17g

    6. Tri Glides-10g

    7. Dutch Buckle- 10g

    8. Home made toggle- 8g

    9. BIAS Carbon toggle- 2g

Sorry if this seems like a stupid question, I am new to this but how would you use the Elephant trunk? Also is the tri glade as quickly adjustable as the Square cinch buckle?

Pretty sure the cinch buckles and rings are for attaching webbing to the hammock, not tree straps to amsteel.

I have only used my diy carbon toggles cut from a broken fishing rod, only weigh 3g for the pair and worked perfectly.

The elephant trunks slide onto the webbing, lock in place and you put the amsteel onto the hook.

    webbing to hammock

It seems to me that no matter what your suspension system is...at some point you need to connect webbing to amsteel.

Whether its a whoopie sling to a tree strap via a marlin spike hitch....or...webbing to a hammock via triangle cinch buckles and an amsteel loop.

There is generally always a webbing to amsteel transition at some point in any suspension system.

So whats your favorite way to do that? and why?

Dutch buckle, works great, has the little shock cord to lock the amsteel on the buckle, so it won't slip off.....RR

I've only just started using toggles after watching Shug's video (on the knot, not the toggle!) and find the marlin spike very simple, quick and the toggles are only a few grams.

I use everything Dutch. Because if it ain't Dutch it ain't much. My favorite are his woopie hooks, I love the Dutch Biners, The Dutch clips make wrapping the straps around the tree fast and easy. And best of all their shinny
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

I have most of the hardware in the picture. I think whoopee's are a tool of the gram weenie but otherwise suck. Straps are faster and not that much heavier. The only place I use amsteel is on DIY hammocks though I have been know to use it for a tarp ridge. I much prefer the slightly heavier oval biners to the new shaped cross section wire gate stuff because I think they put point pressure on straps and ropes.
    YMMV

Right now I use Elephant Trunks. Cant say they are the best since its the only thing I have used for my whoopies. But they work great.
