So Woolman and his son Jay picked me up for a day hang into the wilds of the greenbelt. We donned snowshoes and exercised through the deep powder snow for about a mile and then found ourselves a little nook to set up our day camp.

It was great eating outdoors over an open fire again. Woolman had brought a big hunk of Christmas ham along and I'll tell ya, That was some good, broiled over those campfire coals. Jay had brought some wieners and nice brown bread, which too, turned out just awesome toasted right on the bed of glowing coals.

I don't know about you, but to me there is something way special about hanging in the winter woods that just seemed to capture the three of us spellbound around the fire, talking about only the simple things in life. We had the basics covered with food, shelter and warm clothes, and all agreed that we needed little else, really, to be happy.

We're looking forward to our next winter day Hike N Hang and would recommend them to anyone. lb
