Found an older (2005) EMS Mountain 0 (750 down/25.96oz/Pertek shell) for ~$45.
It's kind of narrow (28"x78") for me to zip in, but thinking it would work as a top quilt.
Anyone see a "down" side? { couldn't help that }

Should do the trick. As long as it is 3/4 zip, it'll open fine for use as a tq. At 28" wide, it should open to ~56", which is plenty!
If the fit feels good, and you want to remove the zipper permanently, it can be done.
Used (often stored compressed) down can be cleaned and fluffed. You'll get some of the loft back, but not all.
I too think your good with it. Great deal)))))

Appreciate the input. Went out at lunch and got it. Think I was 90% sure I wanted to get it & just needed some experienced opinions to take me to 100%.
Think it's going to be mid-20's this weekend so I'll give it a go and see how it is.

P.S. Gotta love Goodwill. Went there to drop something off and on the ground by the dumpster was a large dome tent - no poles so I guess they figured it wouldn't sell. Should be enough silnylon to make a decent tarp
Even better than a second hand shop is next to the dumpster behind the second hand shop! Great find. Let us know how your project turns out
