So i bought some 1.75mm zing-it and im trying to create the the locked brummel but having a killer time trying to bury it. I tried a single copper strand form a cat 5 cable and that seemed to be to thick. any other ideas?
also is it necessary to bury? or is that just to make it cosmetically dress right dress?
Allot of people use carpet needles or a coat hangar. Yes it is necessary to burry because that is where allot of the strength comes in.

Some use a folded E string from a guitar (the single wire). I have had good luck with thin SS leader line from the fishing dept of Bass Pro.

For my Dynaglide, I use a No. 2 knitting needle to open up the braid, by inserting the needle where I want the rope to exit, or an inch or so past the end of my bury, and exiting the rope where I want the bury to enter. I push all this up together tight on the needle, then remove the needle and use a short piece of floral wire I stole from my wife (about 12" long folded in half, but you can use almost any small gauge wire). I put this through the now open hole in the rope, the same way I put the needle in. I then take the end I am going to bury and insert the taper and clamp the wire down on the middle of the taper. I then pull the wire through the rope, remove the wire and milk out the bury.Originally Posted by Pigpen
Opening the rope with the right size knitting needle is key. The first few splices I tried I didn't do this and ran into the same problem your having. I could not get the bury started. I broke a couple of different lengths of wire trying to start the bury.

I use a piece of 22 ga wire, folded over. Works for 1.75mm Zing-it, 2mm Dynaglide, and 7/65" Amsteel.

How can you bury zingit when it is a braid and not hollow? Zingit and Dyneema are not the same thing. What are we talking about here?

I bury zing it all the time. Make continuous loops, soft shackles, etc. It takes some patience, but it is not that difficult. I use floral wire.

Your copper wire is fine. Get a toothpick and use it to open the weave. Takes a little practice, but it's not that hard.. I do it all the time.

I use a large paper clip straightened out and then folded in half. I start with a straightened paperclip to open the weave and then run the double thickness paperclip through a few times to widen it up a bit more. A pair of needle nose pliers helps to get a good grip, and a twisting motion helps to keep it moving when it tries to stick.
ZingIt is braided hollow core cordage, same as LashIt, FlingIt, Dynaglide, and Amsteel. It is just small at 1.75mm thickness so it takes a bit of patience to open up.
