You are now an experienced hanger with wounds to prove it. It's happened to me a few times. Ha!

I feel for you. Last summer I felt the hard Earth come up and hit me whilst experimenting with some fabric that ripped...
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

There are 2 types of hangers: Those that have fallen & those that will fall. You just entered the majority.

Happened again to me just a few weeks ago when the stitching in the tree hugger decided to let go. Sounded like a 22 cal followed by expletives. I think only samsara heard it. As others have stated if it hasn't happened it's just a matter of time.

Being the minority in this conversation, I have never fallen. I had a truckers hitch slip once about 3 inches due to me mistying it somehow, but have never had a total failure.

Things I do to prevent it in my order of importance

    1. Research
    2. Test new styles carefully (ie. sit down softly then start testing the strength by bouncing gently then repeatedly harder until totally comfortable
    3. Hang low in any case to prevent real injury

I'm not saying I will never have a failure, but I would be slightly surprised if it were due to anything besides stitching or the hammock itself. Thanks for reading!

My forum name is Fish<><; I'm in the navy; and I hate sleeping on the ground. If I didn't need ground to walk on or measure resistance to, I think I could happily give it up.

I have not had a failure either... I know its coming because if you use any gear long enough it will fail you... Or I will be tired enough to not double check my gear/knots like I know I should... I don't think less of a man for having his gear fail him, I do think less of a man if he fails his gear...
