Converting HH ocf into a under pad????

I've pretty much decided to retire the HH ULBP in favor of the WB BB. But I like the ocf + sb + undercover bottom side insulation for moderate cool nights and for packing light.

I'm guessing that without the undercover the ocf has minimal if any insulation value. Any air movement would rip away the trapped warm air. So it basically becomes a 5oz suspension system to position the sb. My thought is to enclose or at least attach a layer of silnylon, ripstop, momentum or Spinntex to the outward facing surface.

Anyone try this yet? If so, effective or not as a bottom side insulation? Given the 3D shape of the ocf this will be a cutting and sewing challenge. Something I don't want to do if this is a brain dead idea & wasting material. If so, I'll stick to packing the WS2.

    Hey Noel,
Keeping the backside warm when hammocking in cold weather is the biggest challenge, it seems.

I've had great success with this....

Love the compactness/lightweight of the HH ULBA as compared to other hammock brands. I also love the HH Super Shelter, but just not a big fan of using foam pads or segmented pads. Too much to carry in the backpack. So it led me to the design of a stuffable undercover and overcover.
The #2 Bugnet Zipper Mod really makes my HH ULBA the best it can be with so many new options.

There's lots of great ideas to use and revise here on HammockForums. Just have to try out different ideas and see what works best for you!
Hope you find your perfect, lightweight, compact 4-season setup!
    Cheers,
    ~mark
