Hammocks, stoves, knives, backpacks - they're all good. Plus it's always good to have a backup.

Don't argue with the alligator until after you cross the river.

Backups and using one for lounging and one for sleeping. Some bear camping grounds require you to have your sleeping area about 300 or 500ft away from the campsite. I know shoshone lake in yellowstone requires that. When I was there I really was thinking maybe I should get another hammock.

I can say I'm kicking myself for not grabbing one on the way out the door this morning. I resolve to keep one in the truck from now on.

I have 6 or 8 hammocks at the moment. I started with a walmart equip hammock and then decided to try my hand at making a DIY and gave the equip to my daughter.

I then came across a few different materials and experimented with them - all DIY of course. The end goal is to take everyone camping and hiking next summer so thought I'd give each person a hammock. I really want the gift to last so I've been experimenting a lot.

I think my favorite so far is a 40D ripstop nylon (well, at least it's checkered). Whipped ends. This hammock has been the accumulation of all my experiments so far...

    Regards,
    Dennis
