The one thing I really like about my old HH was the snake skins. Can you use them for a Blackbird 1.7 double layer with an edge tarp? Do you think it will fit?

My HH snake skins fit my 1.7 double just fine. Tarp in the same skins? I don't do that. I have mesh snake skins for the tarp. Tarp=wet/damp Hammock=DRY.

The idea is that they split in half with a cone shape... You roll up your tarp while it is still on the ridgeline and then slide the snake skins over it... Then you can roll up and stuff or hang on the outside of your pack or whatever your heart desires to do with your neatly organized tarp and guy lines...
Live, Laugh, Love, if that doesn't work. Load, Aim and Fire, repeat as necessary...

Hard to see in that photo. Yeah, my tarp and hammock are attached to the trees. I then roll up like Brute said, hammock first if raining. Tarp first if not. the snake skins are two pieces, they appear BLACK in that photo. You just run them over the tarp or hammock. The ridge lines are then removed from the tree. On the mesh/tarp skins, she can also make a fold back like pocket on the tree end of the skin. You figure-8 your ridge line and then just stuff into the pocket. Presto, no tangled mess and they are stored. Then on my tarp, it just stuffs into the outer pocket or the pack, ready for the next hang. The hammock, I use the Hennessy skins on it. Same principle. I use a stuff sack also, so the whoopies, straps and all things Dutch are then in the top of the sack. That goes into the pack with the TQ and UQ.
So look at that photo a bit and note the black thing with the hammock/tarp half in it. That is the snake skin (half deployed).
