    CF/Sil Tarp

Now that I have a thread injector, one of the projects I'd like to take a closer look at, are the Duel material CF/Sil tarps. I've read a little bit about them, and I think a few or our cottage vendors are or will be adding them to their offerings.

If anyone would like to share, I'm wondering how the two materials are joined. I'm wary of throwing stitches across CF, and wonder exactly how it might be done. I know leakage is not supposed to be as much of an issue as a single top seam, being that the seams should hit well below the level of the hammock, but I don't need to be wasting material. That's why these sort of interest me.

You will want to talk to the guy at DP hammock gear. I have enclosed a link directly to his contact portion of his website. He should be able to help better than anyone else here.

Price wise though, it should be less than $100 to make a full CF tarp. Then you could just use the CF tape and wouldn't have to sew a thing. just my two cents.

Yeah. DP is probably where I saw this myself. Love the DP stuff, but their mission statement is Ultra and Super UL. While I don't have a problem with this, minimalist tarp lengths won't get it for me.

I'd like to build these to work with the 11 to 12' RL Hammocks. I'm thinking the sections are probably glued together and/or taped with CF? I feel much better about reenforcing tie-outs in Sil. Why inject CF if you don't have to?

    Thanks for the input!

I think they have a good idea going with their tarp having cuben fiber on the top it makes it nice for looking at stars.

Not a fan of this design but I believe it would be a sewn rolled hem with the cuben on top. You could then use cuben "tape" to seal and reinforce the stitches.
