OK dumb question here....on the WB it is a double layer? Why? Also the types of tie outs he offers...I know its personel preferance but what is the most dourable and reliable? Also to I have a McCat Del...will this work with the BB?
Thanks! Oh yeah...Happy New Year everyone!
The BlackBirds have the option of a double layer or a single layer. The tie-outs are just a piece of line with a small ring. A length of shockcord runs thru the ring and has a cordlock on it with a loop tied in one end. Hook the loop to the stake, tree, rock, etc and adjust the tension by repositioning the cordlock. Seems reliable, but durable needs more time to discover. I have a couple of MacCat standard sized tarps that fit just fine with the BlackBird.
Trust nobody!
the shockcord should take plenty of abuse, it's actually pretty tuff stuff. if you actually wear it out, i'll send you another length of it.
you can probably see a good pic of them on my site, but there are 2 pull tabs per side, but i've equalized them to one piece of shockcord. thge cordlock and loop just means you don't have to tie any knots, like cannibal said, just loop the stake and tighten the cordlock.
Does the double layer BB create a pad pocket and if so is it assessible from inside or outside?

Yeah, it's a pad sleeve. It's open about 1/2 to 2/3 of the way up the zipper. Not real easy to adjust from the inside (think pads in Hennessy Hammocks), but probably 'learnable'. Real easy to adjust outside.

I'm not trying to decide if I can adjust it from the inside. Does the zipper need to be opened to access the pocket? I'm going to have a 2 layer 1.7/1.1 made and I'm trying to decide whether to put the lighter material inside or on the bottom. If the pad pocket accesses from inside (as in zipper open) then I will probably put the lighter material inside.
What are your thoughts, Cannibal?

If you are standing outside the hammock you will have to unzip to access the sleeve. No ideas about which fabric would be best where, but I will say that I personally think the 1.7 feels better against the skin. I'd be tempted to put the 1.7 on the inside just for that reason.
Trust nobody!
