My roommate Trish used to have a cat that would go on walks with us with no leash. She walked just like a dog, heeling, stopping when we stopped. We used to get crazy looks when we'd walk around the block. I can't remember the exact story of how it all started, but it wasn't leash trained - just happened to want to stay near his "momma."

My cat definitely wouldn't stop when I wanted him too atm. Everytime he sneaks out the door I have to sorta chase him around my apartments for a while. He likes to lead and I'm sure out in the wild right now he would lead right offtrail in seconds. I could just see alot of problems too with him getting the leash tangled in desert scrub and cacti and catsclaw (ooohhh the irony : P)

My Weimaraner / Lab “Pepper” prefers a military cot on the front porch! I would not leave my hammock up with her around with out her cot. She would load up in a heart beat. No way would I let that mutt in the hammock with me 

So after trying out a DIY underquilt the other night and then coming inside and sleeping in my bed, my wife let the dog out in the morning and after seeing that I wasn't in the hammock he went on with his normal morning routine. A little while later my wife woke me up to come out and see him napping in my hammock without me....guess I taught him well!! I didn't have a chance to snap a picture, because he caught sight of us and came running.

    My dog goes with me

I stopped hanging because I started taking the dog. He sleeps under the tarp with me. Its not as comfortable as hanging, but it gets the job done. This started becasue I was not a cold weather hanger in the first place and I started with this dog in the winter - he would freak out if I climbed up in a hammock and left him as Coyote bait on the ground. One suggestion - get a rough wear pack - they are the bomb.
