    Ridge line biner strength?

    I'm trying to locate locally the smallest, lightest biner I can use to attach the prussic knots on my ridgeline to my tarp but not sure how much weight they should be able to handle.

    What do you guys think I should consider strong enough for a tarp attachment?

    Dutchware = Lightest & Strongest

    You don't really NEED titanium for this application, but you asked for it!

    If it ain't Dutch.....It ain't much

    Now for an even simpler question....do you really "need" hardware at all. I asked myself this a few months ago and decided the answer was No. I have a continuous ridgeline of zing-it for the tarp then the prussics (actually I use klemheist knots) are just tied right to the d-rings with no hardware.

    I haven't had the need to remove the tarp from the rigeline so it works fine for me. Less weight and nothing to get lost.

    Before that I was using some of the nite-ize s-biners. The #2 size seemed to work fine even though they're only rated for 10lbs. I still use one to connect the end of my ridgeline around the tree. So far so good.

    I was thinking about that myself. If you want to be able to take it on & off, how about tying the prussik w/ a soft shackle?

    All truth being told, my CRL is currently bling-less.

    I use a double set of prussics and a couple salvaged tent hooks. Still using mason line in fact. Works fine.

    That's kind of what I'm looking for but I can't find any locally. I really want to be able to remove my tarp from the ridgeline as well as swap out summer and winter tarps on the same ridgeline.

    I'm not familiar with a soft shackle. Can you show me an example?

    I had a dutch clip in mine. When I went to dutch woopie hooks the short dynaglide "pigtails" I use were easy for slipping the ridge line off if I needed to. 99% of the time I don't need to.
