Prussick instead of Triangle Thingies?

Why not use a Prussick on the hammock rl instead of triangle thingies? Hmm, now that I think about it, my Uq suspension has a continuous shockcord with one biner (at each end). So I wouldn't be able to do this unless I cut it in half and added another biner, right? With or without the triangles...anyway, I'm sure there is a reason to not just use a prussick. Another question, I've never made a prussick, what lenght of line should I cut to make an average size one. Seems like I'd need a decent amount to tie the double fishermans knot. Ok to use 2mm line?
Basically I just like to tie knots and if I don't use em, I lose em....

It wouldn't be a problem to connect your continuous UQ suspension if you used Dutch ridge line clips. That way, you could easily disconnect your ridge line, pass the UQ suspension over the end of your hammock, and then clip the UQ suspension into a prusik on the RL.

I haven't tried prusik in lieu of thingies, but I would think they would work just fine.

It works very well, and has been done before in a manner that allows one to adjust the UQ without leaving the hammock. (Note that this assumes a netless hammock.)

I use Dutch's Ridgeline quilt hooks from http://www.outdoortrailgear.com/feat...e-quilt-hooks/ They work great and dont weigh anything. No need to add a biener.

You might try a 1-foot or so length of cord (I use 550 paracord) with loops at each end. One loop goes to the suspension connection point, runs down the ridgeline, the other end clips to the UQ shock-cord. You can vary the length to get the best fit.

If you have several hammocks of varying lengths, you can use different length cords to compensate, the same UQ suspension is used for all.

It doesn't. The UC shockcord goes up over the ridge-line, the cord just positions the shockcord in the right place (in relation to the length of the hammock), it is held by tension alongside/parrallel to the ridge-line whether you have bugnet or not.
