    Good Luck on your Journey

I was on the AT for only 12 Days last year, but had no problems hanging along my route from Harpers Ferry,WV to Duncannon,PA
and hung in some areas going to the ground would have been difficult

I stayed near shelters for the water and the tables made cooking and eating easier
and a few times the company I had was nice also

(Tumbling Run Shelter area near the Run down from the shelters has some great hanging spots) 1 of my favorites
"HANGING OUT" has taken on a whole NEW MEANING

Has anyone hiked with two hiking and hanging together. Would it be tough to find two hanging spots together all the way through?

the several sections I was with other hangers, there was never a problem.
Hangers usually watch out for each other.

you have more concerns going through the Whites at the huts for work-for-stay.
    not everyone gets a spot

I did with 3 other hangers other than myself last year and had no problem. The issues some people come with are the Whites.

Lots of trees on that trail. You shouldnt have much of a problem with a friend.

Can anyone offer any extra info on what it's like to take a zero day in a hammock, and how they coped cooking dinner/breakfast in driving precipitation?

This is where a good sized tarp comes in very handy. Honestly, rain doesn't bother you too much as long as it's warm out. Hiking through rain is just one of those things that you suck it up and do. When it has been hot for a few weeks, walking in the rain is wonderful. Most hikers I saw out there (myself included) generally walked to the next shelter before hunkering down to wait out the storm. Mostly because company on a rainy day is a nice thing.

I'd love to attempt the AT, but I think the wife would have something to say about me being gone that long....

Definately gonna read your blog. I am hoping to do a thru hike with my son when he graduates highschool. Call it a right of passage, a moment (albeit a long moment) to confirm that he is now a man and all that that entails. Girls are definately easier communicate their value (dinner dates and promise rings...12 guage shotguns). Boys need a little more tribal ceremony; a little more blood and dirt to make the values stick.

    Pulling for ya...praying for ya.
