40 oz is the weight of the deluxe model, which is significantly bigger than your air core. You can save something like 8 oz if you go with the std model, and even more if you get the short one and put a pack under your legs.

I guess "worth it" depends on how cold it's gonna be - I've been thankful for the extra insulation I gained over a thermarest on several occasions! I will probably NOT be hauling this thing along backpacking when the lows aren't getting near freezing, though.

Don't want to use a pack in the hammock and I prefer the full length pad in case I end up in a shelter for whatever reason. We did the approach trail and Springer Mtn Shelter on Sunday before Christmas. Monday at 0730 it was 10F, plus the wind chill. I was nice and warm with the BA working more like a space blanket in combo with the Nest UQ. Used my 20 degree bag as an OQ. Biggest problem I had was the Nest seems a little short for my HH ULA when pulled tight at the footbox and head. Seemed to make the ends susceptible to leakage. Think I might could get a few more degrees comfort by slightly inflating the BA.
Still might go for an extra pad tomorrow and get the 7 DLX for other uses.

I was comfortable on my 9 Deluxe at 17F with no underquilt underneath. I haven't had it any lower yet so I don't know how low I can go on it. FYI, I'm a cold sleeper.

Of course the assumption here is that right now the Downmats are priced $XXX.83 to qualify for this deal. Has anyone confirmed that this is actually the case?

    OK ground Downmat question.

If I use the #7 on the ground in hot weather will I sweat any more than with a normal pad? I need something for the treeless ground trips, but it doesn't exactly get cold here I am.
Is that too much to ask? Girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?

No, I used mine for over a week in Baja and didn't have any overheating issues. I've also used it on the beach on the outer banks. You can just vent/remove your topquilt or bag if you're too warm.

    I've been looking

I am a member...Been watching for the sale flier in the mail. I know there is always a code to use when ordering online. Has anyone gotten the flier and if so what is the code?

    Thanks...
